Final Course Reflection

EdTech 543 was definitely a challenging course for me. It took a lot of time and hard work, however, I learned more than I expected. It might sound silly, but this course really taught me how much I don't know what is out there and the resources that are available right at my finger tips. Before this course, I had never used Twitter, Diigo, Scoop it!, attended live webinars, or knew about Twitter chats. This was the first time I deep dived into my own digital footprint and reflected on what I do online and how it can impact me. I appreciate that this course really made me go outside of my comfort zone and use platforms that I had never used before.

For my professional practice, I will continue to use webinars and live Twitter chats for professional development. I loved attending the Google webinars through Simple K-12 and learning new tips and tricks. I think that webinars are wonderful for learning and very convenient with not having to leave your house. Twitter chats were fun and engaging, and the connections were worldwide, which blew my mind. I will be creating a class Twitter account and sharing the social media policies I created with my students. I think it would be amazing to have my students talk to authors and learn to summarize in 140 characters. I would like to teach my students how to do social networking the right way since they are bound to do it eventually anyway. I am going to create similar assignments as this class for my students to reflect on being a good digital citizen and looking at their digital footprint. I believe it is important to have students know what they are doing online now can impact their lives in the future.

For my blog, I believe I earned a 75/75. Each blog post was well thought out, and not only met the criteria but went above. I added images, resources, and provided examples in the majority of my posts. I organized my blog to be appealing and easy to follow. I even used the paragraph symbol to break apart my paragraphs.
